Celtic have arranged two more pre-season matches, away to Arbroath on July 7 (kick off 2pm) and at Gala Fairydeal on July 25 (kick off 7.30pm).

Neither match will involve the first team squad but there could be a couple of squad players involved at Arbroath with that match falling the day before Celtic fly to Bosnia to face Sarajevo in the first qualifying round of the Champions League.

Over 30 players will travel to Austria tomorrow for the next stage of pre-season training but that will be cut down to 20 by the time Celtic get round to preparing for their first competitive match of the season.

Celtic have still to announce if they will play in the Reserve League next season with Hibs, Aberdeen and St Johnstone announcing that they will be looking for alternative arrangements to develop their younger players.

Last season’s programme of just 17 Reserve League fixtures proved highly unsatisfactory with players waiting weeks between getting meaningful game time. Celtic also had three Reserve League Cup ties and three matches in the Glasgow Cup which was for u-20 sides.

Players such as Kerr McInroy, Daniel Church, Stephen Welsh and Jack Aitchison enjoyed regular international football while Robbie Deas had a successful loan spell at Cowdenbeath where he played in 30 matches.
