John Park won’t be returning to Celtic as Head of Recruitment, according to a report in The Sun.

Park spent a decade in that role before leaving in 2016 during which time Virgil van Dijk and Victor Wanyama were recruited to the club.

As soon as Neil Lennon was reported as caretaker manager he was linked with a move to Celtic with speculation rising following the departure of Lee Congerton and Lennon’s permanent appointment.

Since leaving Celtic soon after the appointment of Brendan Rodgers, Park has set up his own consultancy and worked with Vancouver Whitecaps and Maccabi Haifa.

Park has recently been linked with a Director of Football role at Sunderland with talks on going despite them missing out on promotion to The Championship and speculation over a takeover at the club.

Last week when Lennon was appointed as manager Peter Lawwell discussed the need to bring in a replacement for Congerton.
