Mikael Lustig will decide this week whether to end his seven year stint with Celtic.

The defender is out of contract after Celtic declined to take up the option of a 12 month extension on the contract that he signed in 2017.

Neil Lennon restored Lustig to the team after taking over on a caretaker basis in February and has made it clear that he wants the former Rosenborg defender to stay on at Celtic.

Lustig’s legs aren’t what they used to be but his commitment can’t be questioned as he piles up the medals. The defender is currently on international duty but The Sun provided an update on his options:

But Lustig, 32, is also considering offers from Malmo, AIK Stockholm and other European clubs. The experienced full-back is due to face Spain on Monday night in a Euro 2020 qualifier. Lustig will then finally make a call on his future once his international commitments are over.

With Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan both departed Tony Ralston is the only recognised right-back scheduled to report for pre-season training next Monday.

Celtic’s first pre-season match is on June 26 against Austrian side Pinkfeld with the opening competitive match, a Champions League first round qualifier, being played on July 9 or 10.
