Panathinaikos appear to have switched their attention from Mikey Johnston to Lewis Morgan.

Yesterday The Sun claimed that they wanted to take Johnston on a season long loan to Greece but now the Greek website SDNA has provided an update on who is on the wanted list of Sports Director Nikos Dabiza.

Panathinaikos’s technical manager closely followed last month’s Scottish Cup final, Hearts-Celtic (1-2), to check out Johnston’s “Celtic’s” winger.

Celtic, however, seems to prefer to give the 20-year-old to a squad in Scotland or England to check him out more easily as he believes him.

According to “Live Sport”, however, on the agenda of Dampiza there is another winger of the champion of Scotland, the reason for Louis Morgan. The 22-year-old acted in the second half of last season’s League One loan and counted a total of 35 appearances with 2 goals and 4 assists in Scotland and England.

Morgan picked up an injury during a 10 minute substitute appearance away to Alsahkert and was restricted to just one starting appearance in the first half of the season, away to RB Salzburg.

As had been predicted he was reunited with former St Mirren boss Jack Ross at Sunderland where he was in and out of the side that lost out in the final of the Championship play-off.

With Johnston now appearing to be ahead of him and the arrival of Maryan Shved there Is intense competition for places on the wing in the season ahead.

Morgan was named in Steve Clarke’s first Scotland squad but didn’t make an appearance in the matches against Cyprus or Belgium.
