Grant Savoury has completed a remarkable turnaround and will fly out with the Celtic first team squad to Austria tomorrow for 10 days of training and three matches finishing with a friendly against St Gallen of Switzerland.

The 18-year-old was released at the end of last season after just 325 minutes of Reserve League football that finished with scoring the winning goal after coming off the bench in the final match of the season again St Johnstone.

It had already been decided that there would be no new contract for Savoury but Neil Lennon watched that game against St Johnstone and invited the 18-year-old back for pre-season training.

Savoury appears to have made a massive impression on Lennon according to a VideoCelts source with the Irishman pleased to produce a one year contract that the winger/wide midfielder was delighted to sign up.

It’s unclear whether Celtic will play in the Reserve League in the season ahead but after getting a second chance at Celtic Savoury will be keen to continue impressing Lennon.
