Scott Sinclair is a £2m transfer target for Sheffield United, according to a report in The Sun.

Celtic activated a 12 month clause on his contract last month but the former Aston Villa winger was used sparingly in the closing months of the season.

Sinclair was one of the key signings of Brendan Rodgers’ first transfer window but after a devastating first season in Scotland his form has slipped.

The Sun reports:

CHRIS WILDER is ready to kick-start Sheffield United’s summer spending with a move for Celtic’s Scott Sinclair. The Blades boss wants Sinclair to boost his squad’s Premier League experience following promotion from the Championship last month.

Sinclair seems perfectly happy with life in Glasgow but a three year contract on EPL money will hold some appeal after helping Celtic to nine consecutive domestic trophies.

With Matyan Shved and Lewis Morgan at the club Celtic are well off for wingers although neither of those players has the experience that Sinclair carries.

Celtic are in Champions League action in under a fortnight which would probably rule out a quick deal but it wouldn’t be the biggest shock if Sinclair is elsewhere when the transfer window closes.
