Sutton puts ‘premier club’ King back in his box

Chris Sutton has taken Dave King to task over his boast about Scotland’s premier club.

With all three domestic trophies resident in the Celtic trophy room it is self evident about which club sets the standards across Scottish football.

On every level from European co-efficient through to turnover and average attendances Celtic are well out in front as they prepare for a campaign to win their ninth successive league flag.

Since taking control at Ibrox four years ago the only trophy to have found it’s way into the blue room is the 2016 Petrofac Cup which is competed for between clubs in the lower divisions.

Sutton has been keeping a fairly low profile in terms of Scottish football but clearly keeps an eye out for whatever is popping up on social media.

King will have the chance to back up his claims in August when the domestic season kicks off with Celtic favourites with the bookies to retain all three trophies for the fourth successive season.
