Chris Sutton has reacted to Mikael Lustig’s likely departure from Celtic.

The defender is in Belgium to undergo a medical with KAA Gent that will bring an end to his seven year Celtic stay.

Celtic did have an option to extend the contract that he signed in 2017 but didn’t take it up despite Neil Lennon going on record about wanting the defender to stay on in Glasgow.

Lennon signed Lustig on a free transfer from Rosenborg in January 2012, after a few uninspiring early displays he went on to prove his worth ahead of Adam Matthews, Mark Wilson and Cha Du Ri.

In recent seasons Cristian Gamboa and Tony Ralston have provided competition but once Lennon returned to Celtic in February Lustig was restored to the side ahead of Jeremy Toljan.

Now the new Celtic boss has extra urgency in his search to bolster his defence with Ralston the only right-back under contract.
