The David Turnbull saga has left almost everyone wrong-footed.

In years to come it will be looked on as one of the most amazing transfer sagas, played out fully across social media.

Last Wednesday Motherwell decided to go public after accepting an offer from Celtic for the midfielder- sparking off a bizarre course of action that left most fans and pundits wondering where they stood.

Every second day there seems to have been a U-turn culminating in last night’s news that the midfielder was bound for Celtic.

It’s a saga from which no one has emerged positively, both clubs the player and his agents will have aspects that they regret but the bottom line is that Celtic are about to sign a highly promising goal scoring midfielder.

Alongside Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor, Turnbull has the opportunity to kick on with the old head of Scott Brown not far away to offer his years of experience.

On the other hand it is hard to see where Olivier Ntcham fits in with the Frenchman strongly linked with a move away from Celtic.

In less than three weeks Celtic play their first match of the season, away to Sarajevo in the Champions League. With more than two months left of the transfer window there is likely to be many more twists and turns although probably not as many as during the Turnbull saga.
