Ilir Meta is planning a diplomatic trip to Estonia on July 30, the day that Celtic take on Nomme Kalju!
The President of Albania was in Sarajevo last week when he caught up with some Celtic supporters and now appears to be planning his schedule around the European diary of Neil Lennon’s side.
Warmest congratulations to @CelticFC for the deserved victory last night in @ChampionsLeague. I hope in the next match with Nõmme Kalju to experience live emotions of the win & meet again the wonderful celt fans.”Once you’re a Celt you’re always a Celt. After his brief encounter with some bhoys in Bosnia President Meta got himself a Celtic top and shared a video clip of Rudi Vata scoring in a 1995 Glasgow derby.
Around 400 Celtic fans travelled from Scotland and Ireland for the match in Sarajevo and were joined by small groups of fans from around the continent.
Similar number are expected in Estonia with fans able to book their trip on Tuesday evening after Nomme Kalju booked their place in the second round with a dramatic late winner against Shkendija to go through on away goals after a 2-2 aggregate.
Looking further ahead the draw for the third round will be made on Friday morning, Celtic (and Nomme Kalju) will again be seeded with Greek champions PAOK the most dangerous of the unseeded clubs.
