Sky Sports Austria are reporting that Celtic are poised to sign Boli Mbombo ‘in the coming days’.

Over the last 24 hours there has been constant speculation that the Rapid Vienna left-back was on his way to Celtic in a £3m deal.

That news is inadvertently linked to Kieran Tierney leaving for Arsenal with no one expecting Celtic to pay £3m for a back-up defender.

Sky Sports Austria reports:

According to Sky information, the departure of SK Rapid Vienna defender Boli Bolingoli will be official in the coming days. The Scottish series champion Celtic Glasgow has the 24-year-old Belgian at the top of his list.

The Scots are handing their Kieran Tierney talent to Arsenal London for around 25 million euros and are now looking for a replacement. This place should now take Bolingoli.

Mbombo joined Rapid two years ago and has been their regular left-back since the switch from Belgium and has two years left to run on his deal.

Celtic take on St Gallen tonight in a pre-season friendly with Neil Lennon likely to be quizzed about Mbombo after the match.

There is just over two days to go before the first deadline for Champions League signings although two players can be added by 11pm on Sunday night.

A week today Celtic are in action away to Sarajevo as they attempt to negotiate through four qualifying rounds to reach the group phase.
