New bhoy Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo has revealed that he has still to speak to Neil Lennon.

At 10.24 last night it was announced that the defender had signed a four year contract after terms had been agreed with Rapid Vienna for the 24-year-old.

Last week Lennon flew to Paris from Celtic’s Austrian training camp to discuss the transfer of Christopher Jullien face to face but after a week of speculation there was no meeting or phone call between manager and player ahead of a transfer costing a reported £3m.

Surprisingly Bolingoli-Mbombo spoke to Celtic’s in-house media team ahead of any conversation with the club manager.

CELTIC TV: When were you first aware that Celtic wanted to sign you?

BBM: For myself I think that I heard it last week. Last week there was contact with my agent, directly I said yes, you cannot say no to a club like Celtic. For me it was a great opportunity for my career.

CTV: Have you had the chance to speak to the Celtic manager yet?

BBM: Not yet but I think that will happen in the next ten days, we’ll see each other and have a good conversation.

Bolingoli-Mbombo made his debut for Club Brugge at the start of the 2013/14 season, playing in 40 matches over three seasons before earning a move to Rapid Vienna in 2017.

Over two seasons he became the regular left-back with Rapid and made 10 appearances in last seasons Europa League.

Last season wasn’t the greatest for Rapid who finished in sixth place with the Austrian League similar to their Scottish equivalent where the top and bottom five split to compete with each other over the closing fixtures.
