Celtic look to have lost out on signing Jack Stacey to Bournemouth.

The Luton defender has a year left on his deal with the League One champions and was linked with solving Celtic’s problem right-back position.

On Saturday it was reported that Bournemouth had had a £2.5m bid rejected for the 23-year-old but the BBC are expecting Stacey to tie up a deal today.

Luton’s Jack Stacey will have a medical at Bournemouth on Monday after they agreed a £4m fee for the defender. The 23-year-old was a key figure in the Hatters’ successive promotions to the Championship and was named the club’s young player of the year last season.

His form attracted the interest of Cherries boss Eddie Howe and a deal should be concluded early next week. Stacey is expected to be Howe’s second summer signing, after the £13m arrival of Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City. Stacey had also been linked with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

The departures of Mikael Lustig, Jeremy Toljan and Cristian Gamboa has left Tony Ralston as the only right-back left at Celtic with no wild card signings added to their Champions League squad last night.

There seems to be a lot of speculation linking Celtic with Tom Smith of Huddersfield but much of that seems to originate from the local Examiner website.

Celtic fly out to Bosnia today to face FK Sarajevo with Neil Lennon expected to be questioned about transfer activities when he previews tomorrow’s match.

So far during the transfer window Celtic have spent just over £10m bringing in Christopher Jullien, Luca Connell and Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo
