Ross Doohan has returned to Ayr United for another season long loan.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper spent last season at Somerset Park, making 47 appearances and playing a key role as Ian McColl’s newly promoted side made it all the way to the play-offs.

Doohan’s form saw him promoted into the Scotland u-21 side gaining the vital experience to develop his game away from the training ground.

Last season he went on loan in time to join in pre-season with McColl’s confidence rewarded with impressive displays that earned the keeper the club’s Young Player of the Year as voted by supporters.

Doohan will go straight into the Ayr side to face Berwick in the Betfred Cup tomorrow followed by further group matches against Livingston, Falkirk and Stranraer.

Celtic are unlikely to field a team in the Reserve League this season resulting in more players going out on loan with Neil Lennon discussing trimming the squad at his media conference today to preview the friendly with Rennes.
