Scott Robertson has signed a new two year contract with Celtic.

The midfielder will be 18 later this month and started 12 of last season’s Reserve team matches while also being involved with the u-18 side.

He made his first top team appearance as a half-time substitute in the 6-1 win over Pinkafeld where his blonde hair caused confusion with Ewan Henderson.

Robertson was listed as a trialist in the recent reserve match at Arbroath but signed his new contract and featured in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Rennes.

Like all of the players of his age there is an uncertain season ahead with Celtic unlikely to take part in the Reserve League which will be without Hibs, St Johnstone and Aberdeen.

If Celtic reach the group phase of the Champions League they will take part in the UEFA Youth League with Robertson likely to lead the u-19 equivalent.

So far Ross Doohan moving to Ayr United is the only confirmed loan deal although it’s believed that a number of clubs are looking to get players like Jack Aitchison, Stephen Welsh and Robbie Deas out on loan.
