Vakoun Issouf Bayo has suffered another hamstring injury.

The January signing played five minutes of first team football last season then tore his hamstring while on international duty.

Bayo missed last week’s game against Pinkafeld but scored an impressive goal during a 45 minute appearance against SK Wiener on Saturday but was absent from the 0-0 draw with St Gallen.

Discussing the striker’s injury this morning from Switzerland Neil Lennon told Celtic TV:”Unfortunately we have to wait and see how he is. He felt a little twinge on the hamstring. He was looking really good as well.”

The trip to Austria and Switzerland had passed injury free although Tom Rogic and Kieran Tierney were both ruled out of playing in any of the three matches.

Reports from the training camp were that Bayo was looking sharp and impressive but it looks unlikely that he will play again this month as Celtic start their campaign to reach the group phase of the Champions League.

On the plus side Leigh Griffiths appears to be close to full sharpness after a seven month absence but having tried a formation against Wiener that included two strikers Lennon may step up his interest in bringing in another striker to compete with Odsonne Edouard and Griffiths.
