Celtic played three trialists in today’s friendly against Arbroath which caused some online digging around to uncover who was wearing the hoops.
Liam Burt was quickly identified as one of the mystery men with the former Ibrox starlet previously posting on Instagram about his joy at getting a chance with the Scottish champions.
Joining Burt and Barry Coffey in midfield was a more familiar trialist, Scott Robertson. The fair haired midfielder is out of contract with Celtic but played in the second half of the 6-1 win over Pinkafeld where he was easily confused for Ewan Henderson
The third trialist played at right-back and can be revealed as Tom Leighton. The 18-year-old has spent two seasons with Watford but is looking for a return to Scotland after progressing through Braidhurst Academy and being part of Motherwell’s youth set up.
Leighton has played for Scotland and Northern Ireland at youth level.
