Gerrard’s transfer triple blow!

Steven Gerrard has suffered a triple transfer blow just as he was getting to celebrate his side’s 1-0 win over Derby County in a glamour friendly at Ibrox.

After swooping to bring in five free transfers early in the window to howls of excitement reality is slowly setting in even without the Sports Direct elephant in the room making it’s presence felt.

On Friday there were claims that Brest were about to pay £1.5m to sign Albanian misfit Eros Grezda who has three years left to run on his Ibrox deal.

However Gerrard admitted to the Daily Record: “We’ve had two or three loan requests for Eros but they don’t satisfy what we are looking for at the moment.”

Facing constant questions about non existent interest in Alfredo Morelos, Gerrard snapped: “Instead of me answering this question every single press conference, I’m going to do everything I can to put Alfredo in front of you guys.

“Then you can ask him the question whether he wants to be part of this going forward. I can only say I want him to be part of it. The decision lands with Alfredo. I’m sure now that he has been in this country two or three years, he knows ‘Yes’ and ‘No’.”

Finally the expected return of Ryan Kent can be discounted. After Liverpool lost 3-0 to Napoli at Murrayfield Jurgen Klopp told the Record: “The time is over, I think, for loans, because of his age. The players need to find a place where they can settle. A loan is not an option.”
