For more than a week Celtic supporters have been told that a second Arsenal bid for Kieran Tierney is on it’s way after a derisory opening offer of around £15m.

Gunners fans have been able to believe that their club is serious about going for success with a move for a player that was being compared favourably to Andy Robertson 18 months ago.

Now it seems that interest is withering, a low ball offer for Wilfried Zaha has been laughed off by Crystal Palace with no sign of the much promised improved offer for Tierney.

Asked last night about a fresh offer for Tierney Neil Lennon told Daily Record:

As I said last week, the first offer wasn’t what we’d look for and I don’t think we’ve had another one yet.

It’s as you were. Will it rumble on? Probably. These things take their course whether it happens or not. We have a price for our player. He’s on an long-term contract and we won’t sell him for anything less than we feel is the right price. It can be unsettling but he’s been okay.

He’s not really training with the group but hopefully we’ll see him on the training ground in a week or two. In terms of where he is mentally, it’s got to be unsettling for him, it’s only natural.

As an aside from transfer business it seems concerning that Tierney could be two weeks away from the training ground which effectively rules him out of competitive action for the whole of July.

Both the Record and The Sun are switching attention to ‘Napoli in for Tierney’ which suggests that their appetite for the Arsenal story has almost expired.

The likely signing of Boli Mbombo from Rapid Vienna in a £3m deal adds another dynamic to the Tierney speculation but after 10 days of speculation it seems that every angle has been covered on the Arsenal story without a breakthrough.
