Stewart Robertson is desperately trying to ship players out of Ibrox.

As well as adding eight players to the wage bill so far this summer players like Jason Holt, Joe Dodoo, Jak Alnwick, Jordan Rossiter and Eduardo Herrera have returned from loads spells.

Lee Wallace and Ryan Hardie have been moved on with Alnwick and Herrera going out on loan but there are close to a dozen first team wages that are miles outside of Steven Gerrard’s first team plans.

Discussing the situation the Daily Record reports:

Rangers have told players such as Kyle Lafferty, Graham Dorrans, Eros Grezda, Jason Holt and Joe Dodoo they are all surplus to requirements but so far have not attracted buyers.

Robertson said: “The manager has been quite open – the squad is bigger than that which would allow everyone game time.

Therefore, some of the boys will want to get it elsewhere. We are working with a couple of players at the moment to see if they can get something with other clubs. Signing players is a bit like picking shares. You hope you will get them all right but you don’t tend to.

There is an element of portfolio approach and you just have to hope you don’t make too many mistakes. It’s very difficult when you sign players because they might be coming from a foreign country, with or without their family. So there can be questions about how their family settles. Some of the unknowns can be the things that trip someone up and that’s why it might not work in certain cases.”

Rossiter, Dorrans and Lafferty have a year left on their contracts and are unlikely to move on unless they are given some sort of pay off. Albanian international ace Grezda is under contract until 2022!

With the shadow of the Sports Direct damages hanging over the company it’s highly unlikely that Gerrard will be allowed to added any more players to his squad.

Despite the hype no offers have come in for Alfredo Morelos or James Tavernier, the sale of Daniel Candeias to Turkey brought in a fee of £250,000.
