Hatem Abdel Hamid, also listed as Hatem Abd Elhamed has been left out of the Hapoel Beer Sheva squad to face Lachi in a Europa League qualifier prompting speculation that he could be on his way to Celtic.

A week ago The Sun claimed that Celtic were looking at the 28-year-old defender with Sport 1 reporting that he has pulled out of tonight’s match:

Recently, it was reported that there are gaps between Celtic and Hapoel Beer Sheva, which currently prevent Elhamid from going to Scotland, who is willing to pay 1.5 million euros for the defender

Hamid played mainly in central defence last season for Beer Sheva but can also turn out at right-back which is becoming something of a problem position for Neil Lennon.

Interest in Jack Stacey ended earlier this week when Bournemouth paid £4m to Luton for the defender with no sign of positive developments despite being linked with Tommy Smith of Huddersfield and George Baldock of Sheffield United.

After the win over Sarajevo Neil Lennon mentioned fitting square pegs into round holes in defence following the departures of Mikael Lustig, Jeremy Toljan and Cristian Gamboa over the summer.
