Christopher Jullien has dropped a strong hint that he won’t be in the Celtic starting XI against FK Sarajevo tonight.

Celtic paid £7m to sign the defender from Toulouse but there has been suggestions that he is a bit behind his new team-mates in terms of fitness.

‘Patience is the key’. Jullien missed out on last week’s friendly against St Gallen but could be in line to play in Saturday’s friendly at home to Rennes. With Jack Hendry injured Celtic are short of options in defence with Kris Ajer and Jozo Simunovic the only players with top team experience available for tonight’s match.

Should Jullien come through the match against Rennes unscathed he could make his competitive debut in the home leg against Sarajevo next Wednesday.

Celtic appear to be very active in the transfer market with a right back and a new midfielder a priority with Ecuador midfielder Sergio Quintero claiming that a deal could be agreed by the end of this week.

As well as Hendry, Tom Rogic, Kieran Tierney, Vakoun Bayo and Odsonne Edouard are unavailable for tonight’s match.
