Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo is expected to become a Celtic player in time for Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline for the Champions League qualifier against Sarajevo.

Negotiations with Rapid Vienna and the player have been completed with the left-back expected in Glasgow today to undergo a medical.

It’s unlikely that Mbombo will go straight into the Celtic side to face Sarajevo on Tuesday but with a friendly against Rennes next Saturday he could make his debut in the return leg.

On Monday night there was a flood of rumours on social media that the deal was almost completed with Neil Lennon confirming that news last night.

The arrival of the Belgian defender will intensify speculation that Kieran Tierney is about to be transferred but so far there has been no suggestion that the fans’ favourite is looking to move on.

Mbombo will become Celtic’s third signing of the summer with Lennon on record as saying that he could be looking to bring in six new players.
