Neil Lennon is in no rush to sell Scott Sinclair.

Celtic exercised a 12 month option on his contract towards the end of last season but so far the former Aston Villa man has had to watch from the bench in Celtic’s opening matches of the season.

Sinclair wouldn’t be short of interest from clubs down south with a move to Preston mentioned at the weekend following previous interest from Middlesbrough and Sheffield United.

Asked about Sinclair by Radio Scotland after the 2-0 win over Nomme Kalju Lennon said: “It is just a little difficult period for Scott, it’s so early. I’m really happy to have him around, he has good experience and a good scoring record, I don’t want him to go that’s for sure.”

Sinclair was a 61st minute substitute for Mikey Johnston tonight as Celtic moved into the third qualifying round on the back of a 7-0 aggregate victory.

After a devastating first season in which he swept the boards with Player of the Year awards the 30 year old has struggled to maintain those standards but has been the top goalscorer over the Treble Treble period.

The transfer window for the EPL and English Championship closes at 5pm on August 8.
