Rangers have described speculation over an insolvency event as drivel!

Publication of Monday’s legal defeat from Sports Direct was avoided like the plague by mainstream sources in Scotland for 12 hours until the Daily Record broke ranks.

Since then even the BBC have covered the report which warned that Sports Direct are due ‘many millions of pounds in compensation after Dave King refused to offer matching rights for the new deal with Hummel and the Elite group.

Internet bampots quickly jumped on the report, taking some very obvious headlines and delving into the details which slaughtered the integrity and dignity of Stewart Robertson and James Blair.

Former SPL chief executive Roger Mitchell used his twitter account to suggest that an insolvency event was on it’s way with The Sun getting a reply from the Ibrox Press Office:

I sense Rangers numbers are in trouble but I don’t have the drive to do the hard yards. I sense they are not a going concern without the backing of shareholder loans. But maybe nonsense.”

A Rangers spokesperson said: “You may wish to give such drivel a platform but we have no desire to assist.”

Mitchell went onto compare Gers’ off-field fortunes with those of Old Firm rivals Celtic. He added: “What is their current wages/turnover? Are they burning cash? What is the balance sheet net assets? Compared to Celtic, in what line items operationally do they underperform? Match day and tickets should be close? Sponsorship similar? Merchandise/retail maybe not!

Despite the 2012 insolvency of the old club the SFA and SPL/SPFL have refused to bring in any element of Financial Fair Play to Scottish football.
