Dave King’s latest legal defeat at the hands of Mike Ashley has been published with Sports Direct International requesting that the retailing of Away and Third kits for the next two football seasons is ended by the troubled Ibrox club.

In 2017 King declared victory in his two year long battle with Sports Direct but it later emerged that he had paid £3m to terminate one contract and set up a replacement.

Last summer Sports Direct won a number of injunctions for breach of that contract which halted distribution and sales of the new Hummel playing kit and associated products.

King responded by setting up a firm called Elite to work with Hummel which resulted in the launch of an online shop in September and city centre store opening in December. Funds from those two ventures funded the Gerrard Revolution but that source of income has now been closed with King to pay costs for breach of contract as well as legal fees for both sides for a 12 month dispute.

The South African based businessman can also anticipate a bill from Hummel who have invested heavily in their new venture with none of the predicted products materialising.
