When Neil Lennon named his Celtic side to face Nomme Kalju there were only two players signed by Brendan Rodgers in his selection!

The Leicester City boss did have a massive impact on the careers of many players at the club but when it came to the transfer market there were many more misses than hits.

Scott Bain, signed in January 2018, initially on loan as third choice keeper made the starting XI alongside £9m record signing Odsonne Edouard who also joined on loan before his move became permanent in June 2018.

The rest of the Celtic side was quite a mix led by Scott Brown who was signed by Gordon Strachan more than a decade ago. James Forrest and Callum McGregor came through the ranks while Leigh Griffiths and Nir Bitton were signed during Lennon’s first spell in charge.

Two of the most important players were signed by Ronny Deila but barely featured under the Norwegian. Ryan Christie was signed in August 2015 and instantly loaned back to Inverness Caley Thistle while Kris Ajer was the last player signed by Deila with his career turned around when Rodgers converted him into a centre half and sent on loan to Kilmarnock.

The two other players in the starting side were Jozo Simunovic, a Deila signing in August 2015 and Boli Bolingoli who was signed earlier this month by Lennon from Rapid Vienna.

Rodgers’ last two transfer windows saw a reliance on loan signings such as Filip Benkovic, Timo Weah and Oli Burke while his permanent signings of Vakoun Bayo, Marian Shved, Emilio Izaguirre and Youssouf Mulumbu have made next to no impact.
