During the build up and aftermath of their 2-1 win over FK Sarajevo Celtic were strongly linked with three signings.

There is an 11pm deadline tonight to be eligible for next week’s Champions League qualifier against Nomme Kalju although there is also a wild card deadline for two additional players of 11pm on Tuesday.

Throughout Wednesday there were renewed reports that Jose Cifuentes was wanted by Celtic and Manchester City following his impressive displays at the u-20 World Cup Finals in Poland.

Last week Neil Lennon killed stone dead reports linking Celtic with Sergio Quintero by telling Radio Scotland that he hadn’t heard of him but last night, pre-match he confirmed to the state broadcaster that Cifuentes was on Celtic’s radar.

During the 2-1 win over Sarajevo word coming out of Israel claimed that a 2 million euro deal had been agreed with Hapoel Be’er Sheva for Hatem Abdel Hamid.

Lennon stated on Tuesday that he was looking to bring in four players with The Sun claiming that former Leicester right-back Danny Simpson, who is now a free agent will be joining Celtic on trial next week.

Updating his transfer activities the Daily Record reported Lennon saying:

I think we’ll have something in the next few days hopefully. It might be a right-back, it might be a left-winger, it might be a centre-forward. Right-back is a priority, but we have a number of positions I’d like to strengthen like midfield and one or two attacking areas.

You don’t want to overcook it either, but we want to add to the quality in the squad that we already have. The boys are doing a brilliant job at the minute, but they could do with a little bit of help in terms of strength in depth.
