After an early scare in the pouring reign of Sarajevo Celtic came good to ease their way past the Bosnian champions to turn the return leg into a formality.
Sarajevo took the lead after 29 minutes when Mirko Oremus took advantage of sloppy defending but the hoops were soon back on level terms.
Mikey Johnston had looked a threat throughout and drew Celtic level six minutes later with a fierce 30 yard shot after cutting in from the left flank.
Six minutes into the second half Celtic took the lead when Odsonne Edouard showed great determination and strength to hold off two defenders then poke the ball past the home keeper.
Injuries to Boli Bolingoli were a concern but substitutes Lewis Morgan and Scott Sinclair combined in the 85th minute with the former Aston Villa man back-heeling from eight yards out to put the tie beyond the home side.
