Celtic fans turned their anger on the BBC as they discussed the Compliance Officer looking into comments made by Tom Boyd.
While Michael Stewart gave some measured comments about the situation his colleague Tom English decided to go off on various angry tangents critical of Celtic and Boyd.
Largely overlooked throughout it all was John Beaton failing to award Celtic a penalty kick from a clear hand-ball by Josh Coley. It was a decision that didn’t require VAR or a look at new season legislation, Coley ran towards Mikey Johnston, raised his arms and deflected a net-bound shot out for a corner.
The night before the Celtic match Bobby Madden awarded a penalty to Hearts against Motherwell that most agreed was soft but clearly a penalty.
After Coley’s handball Beaton appeared to indicate that he believed the ball had struck his head rather than his hand.
As the arguments rage on, while Boyd and Celtic wait to find out if any charges are made Beaton can prepare for another high profile match this weekend.
With a place on the FIFA list the Lanarkshire based referee is assured of continually getting the top fixtures and match fees regardless of how he performs week by week.
Sportsound on air with @mstewart_23 @TEnglishSport discussing the former @CelticFC captain Tom Boyd’s CelticTV comments on Saturday afternoon v @officialdafc. Criticising ref John Beaton for not awarding a penalty, he claimed Celtic were up against 12 men. Get in touch.

Are they allowed to discuss it? It happened on a private pay to view channel which was not broadcast in the UK or Ireland live. Therefore it wasn’t even aimed at an audience in this country

Celtic usually are with the likes of Beaton reffing our matches. He managed to see a handball a week earlier and somehow missed a glaringly obvious one against us! It`s not difficult to see why Tom Boyd made his comment. Then we had the letting Morelos off with blatant assaults.

So not discussing the awful refereeing decision? Or the disgusting @officialdafc fans? As long as you are covering the important issues though.

Surely the time to make a stand was when rangers stopped Collum from refereeing them?

Do either of you have the courage to agree and say it was a clear cut penelty and that Tom Boyd was correct. Why should he not comment and “ref” Beaton would be popular in his watering hole for such a decision.I want my team to win fairly . Don’t want helped and don’t want hinder

You may not have noticed, but only one half of the “Old Firm” is complaining about Beaton. The other half is buying him drinks. What does that tell you?
