Chris Sutton’s predictions and fears became reality tonight.

For over a year the BT Sport pundit has questioned the boardroom strategy at Celtic as profits grew as the product on the park declined.

After losing tonight to Cluj all of the failings within the club were cruelly exposed. Under investment from the boardroom, questionable tactics and relying too heavily on a dwindling pool of players all came home to roost as Celtic twice threw away winning positions to the champions of Romania.

Over the last 15 months Stuart Armstrong, Moussa Dembele, Patrick Roberts, Mikael Lustig and Kieran Tierney have departed. In their place tonight Celtic had Hatem Abd Elhamed with Callum McGregor improvising at left-back.

Next Thursday Celtic will attempt to get through a Europa League Play Off, it’s debatable if the top tier of the stands will be required if they make it through to the group stage.

The warning signs over the last 15 months have been ignored, the coming weeks will be open season on almost every aspect of the club with no-one spared.
