Celtic’s ‘recruitment committee’ will meet later this week with signing a left-back the priority.

Kieran Tierney’s departure for Arsenal didn’t come as a shock but leaves that area of the park exposed as Boli Bolingoli adapts his game from wing-back to full-back.

Money shouldn’t really be an option with last summer’s transfer surplus created by the sale of Moussa Dembele topped up by the £25m on the way from Arsenal.

Greg Taylor seems to be the most obvious target with the Kilmarnock man likely to cost around £1m which represents far better value that the £7m being quoted for Brentford’s Rico Henry.

The Daily Record reports:

Tosh McKinlay compiled a report on the left-back as Taylor’s Kilmarnock side went down 2-0 at Hamilton on Saturday. Record Sport exclusively revealed last week the 21-year-old was among several names under consideration to replace Tierney, who completed his £25million move to Arsenal last Thursday.

Celtic manager Lennon is poised to hold talks with chief executive Peter Lawwell and his recruitment department this week as they look to strengthen their squad for the domestic and what they hope will be a prolonged Champions League assaults.

Celtic have already signed £3million Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo from Rapid Vienna earlier in the window but the Scottish champions feel they need another left-back with more defensive qualities.

Every SPFL Premiership match will be watched by Celtic scouts but McKinlay would seem to be the most obvious person to check out a left-back in the final year of his contract.

Former Aberdeen loanee Max Lowe is also mentioned in the Record report with the 22-year-old playing in just 35 minutes of Derby’s two opening Championship fixtures.

After the frantic start to the season Celtic get a mini-breater after Tuesday’s match against Cluj as they contemplate a Champions League or Europa League play off with a home Betfred Cup tie against Dunfermline.
