Chris Sutton has produced a sharp reply to Graeme Roberts’ claim that Aberdeen raise their game against clubs from Ibrox accompanied by ‘rolling over’ against Celtic.

It’s a favoured comfort blanket for the deluded who fail to see the shortcomings in their own company believing instead that a grand conspiracy is running against them.

Roberts was on TalkSPORT this morning to discuss the Arsenal-Spurs match on Saturday before taking a look at matters in Scotland with a predictable slant.

Last season Aberdeen failed to win in three attempts against Steven Gerrard’s side at Pittodrie, in Glasgow things were very different.

In October Ibrox reject Lewis Ferguson scored the only goal of the game in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup, two months later on the back of losing to Celtic in the final a goal from Scott McKenna gave the Dons a 1-0 win against the league leaders at Ibrox.

In March after a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie Aberdeen went to Ibrox and won 2-0 in a Scottish Cup replay.
