Apart from one little known website/blog going by the name TMW no-one in Italy has touched the Kris Ajer to AC Milan story.

With four national newspapers dedicated solely to football not much escapes the notice of the big publishers as they chase the big transfers around Milan, Turin and Rome. TMW publishes 20 stories an hour which is an awful lot of transfer tales!.

Ajer will be on the radar of every club in Serie A, they will have records of each Norwegian internationalist from u-17 upwards. AC Milan, Juventus, Napoli and others will be well aware that the highest rated defender in the world was playing for the same club as Ajer four short years ago.

Virgil van Dijk left Celtic less than a year before Ajer signed up from Start in Norway.

While Scottish publishers have jumped on the story there is little chance of Ajer being sold at this stage of the season, although like Kieran Tierney he will one day move on to one of the rich leagues.

Since they lifted the Scottish Cup in May Celtic’s defence has lost Dedryck Boyata, Mikael Lustig and Filip Benkovic with fringe players like Emilio Izaguirre and Cristian Gamboa also leaving the club.

Ajer is essential to Celtic’s defensive plans for the season ahead, alongside Christopher Jullien or Jozo Simunovic. Maybe one he has a few more medals in his locker he’ll consider a move to Serie A.
