He has the tricky task of following Moussa Dembele and competing with fans favourite Leigh Griffiths but Odsonne Edouard is starting to make his mark on the Celtic support.

‘I wanna be Edouard’ isn’t the slickest of chants but with some online wizardry it is taking route among the Celtic support for a player who in less than two seasons at the club has already racked up some highly significant goals.

On a glum afternoon at Hampden in May he turned around the final of the Scottish Cup, earning a penalty, tucking it away after a delay then scoring the winner to secure the treble treble.

Two months earlier he had battered the Ibrox defence into submission with a great solo effort then the assist for James Forrest that secured a derby day victory that opened up a 13 point lead at the top of the SPFL table.

A year earlier he had scored the clincher at Ibrox that destroyed the Murty Revolution then rocked Celtic Park with the opening two goals as the hoops went in 3-0 in front on route to securing the title with a 5-0 win.

There’s more to come, hopefully including tonight as the quiet French kid leads Celtic towards the Champions League as the stands rock to his name.
