Neil Lennon has revealed that Kieran Tierney dropped in on Lennoxtown on Sunday to formally say his good-byes to his former team-mates.

While Brendan Rodgers slipped out the back door in February never to be seen again after deciding to give his life to Leicester Tierney opted for a different approach.

He was in yesterday, he popped in, everybody was delighted to see him, he got a nice farewell from the players. It’s emotional for him obviously, players get on with it, that’s what you do, you move on He’s going to be a big miss but it’s an opportunity for others to take on that mantle.

Tierney’s departure had been anticipated for more than a month, for the first time since he was at primary school the defender is now adapting to a different set of team-mates at a new club.

With £25m topping up the surplus generated by the sale of Moussa Dembele a year ago Celtic have never been in a stronger financial position as they approach the final fortnight of the transfer window.

Lennon’s focus is fully on the Champions League qualifier against Cluj tomorrow night but once the immediate European future is resolved the focus will return to the transfer market with two full-backs the priority.
