Kilmarnock chief challenges King into joint investigation into Rugby Park violence

Kilmarnock chief Billy Bowie has challenged officials at Ibrox to conduct a joint investigation into the events at Rugby Park on Sunday.
Since the match the usual nameless and pointless deflection statements have emerged from Ibrox blaming everyone else but stopping short of pointing the finger at Chelsea fans.
During the match Sky Sports viewers saw visiting fans destroy the roof of the disabled section with dozens running onto the field of play to celebrate a late goal from Connor Goldston.
Afterwards videos on social media showed away supporters forcing open a safety gate allowing hundreds of ticket-less fans in to join in the anti-Catholic songs coming out of the Chadwick Stand.
According to the statements from Ibrox these problems were all the result of a problem with Kilmarnock’s ticketing system.
Responding to those claims Bowie told the Record: “There are loads of claims and counterclaims flying around so we’ve decided to have a meeting with all the authorities and everybody involved to find out what went wrong.
“Something was clearly not right as there were more people there than the amount of tickets sold. So we will have an investigation into everything that went on to make sure it’s put right. We’ll be doing that this week and it would be nice to have Rangers round the table but we’ll have to see what they’ve got organised.”
Since Scott Brown was confronted by a fan at Ibrox in April 2017 followed by a pitch invasion at Firhill the following week the SPFL have turned a blind eye to the actions of Ibrox fans.
Last season an assistant referee had his head cut open by a coin during a match at Livingston with no comment, sanction, report or punishment from the football authorities.
