Kilmarnock have rejected an offer of under £1m for Greg Taylor.

Celtic have been strongly linked with the left-back with various reports on how likely a deal is to be completed before Monday’s midnight transfer deadline.

Taylor and Birger Meling are the players most linked with joining Celtic. Sunderland appeared to be interested yesterday morning but their opening offer seems miles short of Kilmarnock’s valuation.

STV reports:

Kilmarnock have rejected a bid from Sunderland for Greg Taylor. The left-back is valued at £3m but the offer from the Black Cats was less than £1m, STV has learned. Taylor, who won his first cap for Scotland against Belgium in June, has also attracted interest from Celtic.

Taylor has made over 100 league appearances for Killie with his career taking off once Steve Clarke replaced Lee McCulloch as manager.

With two years left on his contract the Ayrshire side are in no rush to sell the left-back but with his basic wage likely to be around £1,000/week denying him a move that could add a zero to that figure could be awkward.

Taylor and Stephen O’Donnell have both been named in Clarke’s Scotland squad for the Euro 2020 Championship qualifiers against Belgium and Russia.
