Neil Lennon has praised Boli Bolingoli after his first taste of Scottish football on the road.

The defender has been fully involved in Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers and was given a gentle introduction to the Scottish game with the flag day win over St Johnstone.

At Fir Park the home players can be as ferocious as the fans with Bolingoli in the firing line as Celtic struggled through the opening 30 minutes.

Kris Ajer and Olivier Ntcham were Celtic’s best players during that period with the former Rapid Vienna defender coming onto a stronger game after the break.

As Kieran Tierney’s replacement the spotlight is firmly on Bolingoli with Lennon pleased with the way that he is adapting to his new club.

“I’m delighted with him. He’s shown a lot of character,” the Celtic boss told BBC Scotland. “He’s still trying to find his feet, but as the games go on he is getting better. There were a few erratic moments we’ll hopefully iron out. His second-half performance he can be delighted with.”

Bolingoli will continue his Celtic education on Tuesday night when the hoops attempt to complete the task of seeing off Cluj after the 1-1 draw in Romania.

Next Saturday the focus switched to the Betfred Cup when Dunfermline visit Celtic followed by a European Play Off and the visit of Hearts.
