Kieran Tierney’s former team-mates were quick to wish the defender good luck after his record breaking transfer to Arsenal.

After 15 years at Celtic, five of them in the first team, Lennoxtown waved good-bye to a player that had become part of the fabric of the club.

Whether a player came from Israel, Sweden or elsewhere they quickly took to Tierney who took on the role of unofficial club guide as he introduced them to the unique ways of life as a Celt.

Summing things up Mikael Lustig stated: “The way that you have educated all your team mates about the club and the fans is incredible.”

Although he only managed a dozen appearances this year Tierney’s departure will leave a big hole in the team and in the dressing room.

Scott Brown and Leigh Griffiths know all about the ways of Scottish football while James Forrest and Callum McGregor have came up through the club academy from their primary school days.

Neil Lennon will need to brush aside the emotions of Tierney’s departure but with an additional £25m to spend he can certainly put his stamp on the team.
