Among the goals on show at Fir Park yesterday there was a welcome return to form for Olivier Ntcham against Motherwell.

After scoring the only goal of the game in the September derby, last season was one to forget for the midfielder as he drifted around the fringes of the Celtic squad hampered by injuries and the emergence of Ryan Christie.

An interview with French publisher L’Equipe in which Scottish football was trashed as he discussed his transfer wishes didn’t go down well but with a contract extension signed in November a transfer seems some way off.

Neil Lennon dealt with that issue behind closed doors and has brought the former Manchester City man back into the fold, appreciating that it’s not easy to find the sort of quality that Ntcham has.

Playing in an advanced midfield role yesterday he prompted many of Celtic’s attacking moves, rarely wasting a single pass.

Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie appear to be the three first choice midfielder but having a focussed and on form Ntcham around won’t do Celtic any harm with some tough tests ahead before the international break at the start of next month.
