A report in The Express claims that Celtic are close to signing Jordan Ibe.

The winger is out of favour at Bournemouth having started just 44 EPL matches since his £20m move from Liverpool three years ago.

Even though Scott Sinclair has been pushed out of the picture signing another winger wouldn’t seem like a transfer priority with most of the team’s problems stemming from defence

The Express reports:

CELTIC are close to tying up a move for Bournemouth misfit Jordon Ibe. Ibe is yet to feature in a game for Bournemouth this season and last term made only nine starts for Eddie Howe’s team. The Cherries, who paid a then-club record £14million for Ibe when he joined in the summer of 2016 from Liverpool, want around £20m for the winger. Celtic initially wanted a permanent deal, but are not prepared to pay Bournemouth’s asking price, so are now trying to tie up a loan deal before the Scottish transfer window closes on September 2.

With a year left on his contract it seems that Bournemouth have virtually written off Ibe’s £20m transfer fee.

After taking over from Brendan Rodgers in February Lennon was reluctant to use players signed on loan but with two weeks left to run in the transfer window Celtic haven’t yet signed any attacking players.

Despite being the leading scorer over the last three seasons Sinclair has been left out of the squad for the matches against Cluj and Dunfermline.
