After a day of mystery that saw the English transfer window close at 5pm Scott Sinclair remains a Celtic player.

The leading scorer over the Treble Treble period was left out of the squad that flew to Romania on Tuesday to assist a transfer but other than a flurry of rumours in mid afternoon linking him with Derby County the busiest day of the year seemed to have passed him by.

Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Preston North End had been linked with Sinclair but there was no follow up as the day progressed past 5pm without a sighting of the former Manchester City and Aston Villa man. Other transfer windows remain open but prior to Celtic Sinclair had spent his entire career in English football.

Kieran Tierney was the only departure from Celtic with his former left-wing partner expected to be back at training today and in contention for a place at Motherwell tomorrow.

Neil Lennon will be forced into rotating his squad with the Fir Park trip followed quickly by the return leg against Cluj on Tuesday to complete a frantic week.

The Celtic boss will check on the fitness of Mikey Johnston but it’s likely that the winger will be held back for the return match against Cluj leaving a choice of Sinclair or Lewis Morgan to play on the left.
