The madness of the transfer window can be summarised in two ‘updates’ this morning.
According to The Express Celtic have ended their interest in Greg Taylor because the £3m asking price is too steep while The Sun reports that the hoops are ‘unlikely to pursue a move for Rosenborg left-back Birger Meling’ but that Taylor remains on the radar.
Presented with both reports it seems that Derek McGregor of The Sun is closest to the truth, after being first to break the news of Arsenal’s interest in Kieran Tierney he has some pedigree.
On Sunday Neil Lennon spoke about hoping to have two or three new signings flying to Sweden tomorrow but that timescale is looking less likely.
Meling will be hoping to overturn a 2-0 first leg defeat to Dinamo Zagreb tonight to deliver a Champions League place for Rosenborg. With his contract running until December 2020.
Taylor is under contract with Kilmarnock until June 2021 but the Ayshire side may have some difficulty motivating a player likely to be in a basic wage of around £1,000/week who has been denied the chance to add a zero to his pay packet.
