Scott Sinclair’s clash with the groundsman at Motherwell seemed to have been sparked by a picture request from a fan!
Radio Clyde pundit Gordon Dalziel detailed the explosive confrontation live on air after Celtic’s 5-2 win at Fir Park.
Sinclair was a late substitute in the match but has been the target of Motherwell fans since the 2017 Betfred Cup Final when he scored with a penalty.
@Scotty_Sinclair thank you so much for coming over and having your pic taken with my birthday boy after today’s match. He was so happy! Proper gentleman ???? …. apologies for what happened to you after you took your time to do this kind deed though ???? pic.twitter.com/cVuFXKmdUL

@Daily_Record @Record_Sport this is the picture that @Scotty_Sinclair walked over for which led to him being confronted by the groundsman

Staff @MotherwellFC looked after us incredibly and honestly cannot thank them enough! This incident is NOT a reflection on everyone at Motherwell but an isolated incident I’m sure. As a club Motherwell really do go that extra mile

It seems that Elaine made arrangements with Motherwell to get a picture of her son with a Celtic player which the club was happy to arrange.
Sinclair appears to have made his way to the away stand after his warm down when the groundsman decided to intervene.
Neither club was prepared to comment on the incident with no video footage around to illustrate what had happened.
On Wednesday it looked like Sinclair’s Celtic career was over when he was left out of the squad for the match against Cluj but Thursday passed by without any deal being concluded.
