Angelo Alessio has insisted that there was nothing sinister behind Greg Taylor’s ansence from today’s 0-0 draw with Aberdeen.

On Thursday the Daily Record claimed that talks were underway to take the left-back to Celtic, the following day they reported that the player had missed training due to injury.

Earlier in the week Killie had brought in Niko Hamalainen on loan from QPR with the Finnish internationalist impressing today.

Before today’s match Alessio was asked about Taylor’s absence and told Radio Scotland that the player had a hamstring injury. He confirmed that no offers had been made but that there were rumours about interest in the player.

Alession told The Sun:

Yesterday after the warm-up there was a wee problem with the hamstring. At the moment it’s only rumours. I don’t think the club has received any offers from Celtic. We have spoken to the club and the owner and we want to keep our best players.

Kilmarnock picked up their first point of the season today but with one goal from three matches an injection of cash would be welcomed to bring in some firepower with Hamalainen ready to slot in at left-back.

With nine days to go in the transfer window it could be the case that Taylor has played his last match for Kilmarnock.
