Celtic’s Colt side face a daunting test on Tuesday night when they travel to face Falkirk in the second round of the Tunnocks’s Challenge Cup.

Tommy McIntyre’s side enjoyed a penalty shoot-out win over Queens Park last week but face a big step up in quality when they take on the favourites for the First Division title.

Ray McKinnon has a budget that a number of Championship clubs would be envious of with former Celts Lewis Toshney, Michael Tidser and Denny Johnstone among the summer signings.

After a disappointing 0-0 draw away to Peterhead in their opening League One fixture they showed their menace yesterday with a 6-0 home win against Dumbarton.

Declan McManus led the way with a hat-trick, Conor Sammon scored twice with Charlie Telfer getting the other goal, for good measure Cammy Bell saved a penalty.

Despite going out on loan and playing for Alloa and East Fife yesterday Robbie Deas and Daniel Church remain eligible for Tuesday’s match which is being played at the same time as the first team take on Cluj

Falkirk v Dumbarton: Bell, Doyle, Dixon, Toshney, Buchanan, McShane, Connolly, Telfer, Tidser, McManus, Sammon

Subs: Mutch, Longridge, Leitch, Gomis, Johnstone, Moore
