Karamoko Dembele will miss Celtic’s Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Cup tie with Queens Park tonight due to injury according to a report in The Sun.

The 16-year-old made his senior debut at the end of last season against Hearts and featured in the pre-season matches in Austria and Switzerland.

Tonight’s match involves the Celtic Colts which is restricted to players u-21 with the hoops losing out to Annan Athletic in each of the last two seasons.

The Sun reports:

KARAMOKO DEMBELE is out of Celtic under-21s’ Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup clash with Queen’s Park tonight. SunSport understands Dembele has a foot injury and will miss the first round tie at Airdrie’s Penny Cars stadium. The 16-year-old forward is arguably the top prospect of Tommy McIntyre’s young Hoops team.

Other than a friendly against Arbroath Tommy McIntyre’s side has been restricted to playing closed doors matches to prepare for tonight’s match.

With the hoops opting out of the 12 team SPFL Reserve League playing options are at a premium for the squad with only Ross Doohan to Ayr United completing a loan deal.

Robbie Deas is expected to join Alloa Athletic on loan after tonight’s match but others such as Daniel Church, Jack Aitchison, Leo Mazis, Stephen Welsh, Barry Coffey and Scott Robertson are facing a real shortage of matches in the season ahead.

Tonight’s match is at Airdrie with a 7.45pm kick off, admission is £12 adults, £6 concessions.
