For over a week Victor Wanyama has appeared to be on the brink of signing for Club Brugge but with less than a day left in the transfer window he remains a Spurs player.

The midfielder will forever be a hero of the Celtic support with a strange combination of events reigniting hope that ‘Big Vic’ could be about to return to the hoops.

Last Friday Fraser Forster returned to Celtic, claiming the number 67 that was first used by his former Southampton team-mate sparking some gentle social media banter.

As last week progressed, as Brugge reached the group phase of the Champions League Wanyama’s deal remained unsigned as Celtic fans began to think the previously unthinkable.

A £13m transfer fee and £65,000/week on a five year salary surely wouldn’t be considered by Celtic but with the clock ticking towards the end of the transfer window Spurs may be looking at Plan’s B, C and D rather than have Wanyama kicking around the outskirts of their squad until January.

Yesterday the Daily Mail credited Celtic, Valencia, Bologna and Valencia with interest in the 28-year-old, with Neil Lennon and Forster back in town there is growing speculation that ‘the band could be back together’ before the transfer window closes over at midnight.
