Celtic have cranked up the pressure on the SFA by publishing an interview with Ryan Christie that is highly critical of Kevin Clancy.

With an uninterrupted view the match referee and his assistant Alan Mulvanny turned down two clear cut penalties with the Celtic website describing them as stonewallers.

Early in the second half Christie was chopped down in the penalty box by Lewis Stevenson as he cut the ball back but Clancy waved play on.

It’s not the first time that the midfielder has been on the wrong end of a decision from Clancy, last November the same referee decided that a word of warning to Dolly Menga was sufficient after the Livi striker head-butted Christie while defending a corner kick. Menga was given a retrospective two match ban from a match where Celtic dropped two points.

Speaking to the Celtic website Christie said:

It was a stonewall penalty and it was frustrating because at that stage in the match we were very much on top. But I think because I ended up getting a cross away, that’s probably why the referee didn’t give it – they just seemed to try and play on.

But, for me, it was a definite penalty and everyone could see that. It reminded me of one that we got against us at Pittodrie last season, when Emilio Izaguirre slid in on Niall McGinn. It was very similar and it was given then. You just have to realise that it was a late challenge and I can tell you for sure that if that was outside the box it would definitely be given as a free-kick. So it was frustrating not to get either of them.

Later in the second half Clancy refused to give Celtic a penalty when Daryl Horgan fouled Moritz Bauer from a similar position to the Christie incident.
